Linda & Brian
Saturday 29th May 2010
A really gorgeous and intimate weekend wedding for 35 guests, some from as far afield as Canada!
Linda and Brian (very wisely) arrived on the Thursday in order to have a couple of days chilling out before the big day. Linda spent a very relaxing day before the wedding at the Wye Valley Spa- so relaxing in fact that she left her engagaement ring behind!
They were married in the Georgian Restaurant at 1.30pm on the Saturday, facing out over the cedar of lebanon, with very special music during the ceremony from Brian’s brother on the guitar, with his sister accompanying him. Linda looked beautiful in an oyster coloured off the shoulder dress, complete with lilac fingernails! Even the sun, which had up until the ceremony been absent, came out at precisely the moment they said their vows!
The guests then made their way through to the drawing room for bubbly with raspberry and mint, and canapes-including mini haggis’ accompanied by shots of scotch whisky as a nod to Brian and Linda’s scottish heritage!
The tables looked beautiful with centrepieces of roses, freesias, and lisianthus in soft lilacs and creams. Napkins were tied with lavender ribbon with a freesia tucked into each one.
A very emotional set of speeches came at the end of the meal, with words from not only the groom, best man, and father of the bride, but the bride herself. Lots of tears all round (including from this events manager!).
The wedding cake was vanilla cupcakes, wrapped in 3 shades of lilac cupcake wrapper, displayed in the Drawing Room bay window, and tucked into later on in the evening.
Later on that night their guests munched on bacon ciabattas and danced the night away to Brian and Linda’s ipod. The drawing room was decked out in lots of fairy lights, setting the mood for a very special evening.
After a hearty Glewstone Works breakfast the next morning the new Mr and Mrs Rafferty and their remaining guests relaxed on the lawn in the sunshine before heading off on Honeymoon (taking the remainders of a polypin of HPA with them!)
A word from the Bride…
“We got married in May 2010 at Glewstone Court and Kate, the owner’s daughter, arranged everything with us. She was so helpful and organised and went beyond the call of duty, advising and sorting all sorts of things; she baked cup cakes and chose and arranged flowers exactly to our specifications. On the day, there was no stress as everything was in place and the day was a roaring success! Food was hot, delicious and plentiful; the house was clean, beautifully decorated and the guests were looked after admirably. Candles, music, drinks all seemed to appear effortlessly at just the right time and thanks to the lovely rooms and well-tended gardens, all guests had a great time and were most comfortable. I cannot praise Glewstone enough. Thank you for the best day of our lives!!
Linda x“
