Emma & James
Saturday 17th July 2010
The majority of Emma and James’ guests arrived on the Friday evening to take over all 8 of our bedrooms for the weekend. After everyone was settled in James and his boys headed off to Broome Farm for an evening of cider drinking and camping while Emma and her girls settled in for a night of more refined refreshment before the big day.
The day itself dawned bright and clear and as they chose to have the ceremony later on in the day there was plenty of time for relaxation, and a trial run for Emma walking down the aisle (tears from both the bride and the events manager!)
James made his way over from Broome Farm in a pony and trap (with plenty of rest stops for the horse on the way!)
Guests were greeted with a glass of Pimms on arrival, and mingled outside on the lawn before being called in for the ceremony at 3pm. Emma wore a gorgeous full length strapless gown, with panels of burgundy running through the bodice and down the train.
The ceremony took place in The Drawing Room, and a surprise guest at the ceremony was Emma’s beloved Pooh Bear teddy acting as ring bearer, suitably dressed for the occasion in tux and tie!
After the ceremony guests made their way back outside for more Pimms and a light finger sandwich buffet.
Emma and James then set off as man and wife on the pony and trap, with guests following for a riotous evening barn dance and hog roast at Broome Farm.
Taxis were booked to bring the new Mr and Mrs Lawrence and their guests back to Glewstone just after midnight for a good nights sleep.
After a hearty Court breakfast the next morning(which nearly all the guests made it up for!) Emma and James said goodbye to family and friends and made their way back to Broome Farm for a weeks camping honeymoon, and were nice enough to pop back and see us for dinner on the last night of their stay in the county.
The whole day was a lovely informal affair, with a ceremony full of character and laughter.
Words from Emma…
“I knew from the first phone call to book an appointment to look around Glewstone Court that I was going to feel comfortable in their company, I even wrote down in my notepad Very Nice Lady to remind me that I had spoken to someone that cared deeply about our day before we had even got there.
When we arrived for our appointment, we couldn’t have been made to feel anymore welcome than we were. The house is exquisite inside and out. It has all the manor house features that you would expect with a family feel to the ambience. Kate quickly put us at our ease at the daunting prospect of organising our Wedding. We had found the perfect setting for our day and the months ahead of planning were extremely relaxed as well as professional.
Every Wedding at Glewstone Court is unique and creates more special memories for Kate and her family as well as the special couple themselves. All our hopes and dreams were becoming a reality, the build up to our big day was painless and stress free. The hardest part for me throughout my whole experience was holding my nerves when that door to the ceremony room opened.
Glewstone Court is a wonderful place and the people are wonderful.
Every moment of the day is in my memory and will be forever.
Thank you to Kate and all at Glewstone Court”
