Environmental Statement
Here at ‘The Court’ we try very hard to understand and reduce the impact that the running of our hotel may have on the environment and on the local economy.
A few of the practices that we have in place are:
- All glass is recycled by the ‘Can Do Crew’
- Our cooking oil is recycled.
- The ‘Can Do Crew’ take our waste paper to the wormery for composting
- We ensure that we turn off all unecessary lighting in the public areas of the hotel
- Guests are asked to ensure that they turn off lights when not needed; we use low energy bulbs where possible.
- Guests are asked to reuse their towels whenever possible
- Guests are asked to ensure that the televisions in their rooms are switched off when not in use, and not left in ‘standby’ mode
- All of our loos are fitted with Hippo Water Saving devices
- Our food and produce is sourced from local suppliers wherever possible, a lot within a 40 mile radius. This helps us to keep our food miles to a minimum and supports our local economy.
- All our staff live locally to the hotel, and we use local contractors, wherever possible, for any additional maintenance work.
- We do not use pesticides or chemicals in our garden; we have a small vegetable patch and compost area and leave some areas uncultivated to encourage butterflies and bees.
